On July 6, 2023, in the Kiev-Pechersk Lavra, representatives of the Kiev-Pechersk Lavra National Reserve, with the help of security forces, will seal the monastery buildings. This was reported by the Information and Educational Department of the UOC.

“This morning, the locks were broken and the 70th building, where the residence of the Primate of the UOC was located, was sealed.

The police blocked the passage through the territory of the monastery in several places and forcibly dragged the believers away from building 69, sealing the door. Building 71 has also been sealed,” the report says.

Believers who came to worship, contrary to the legislation of Ukraine, were not allowed into the territory. According to the monastery’s lawyer, Archpriest Nikita Chekman, some of them were subjected to physical force.

Later, a message appeared that the territory of the Lower Lavra was closed until 11:00 for technical reasons.
