People’s deputy commented on the Reserve’s attempt to seal the Lavra buildings

People’s deputy of Ukraine Artem Dmytruk commented on the unsuccessful attempt of the commission of the Ministry of Culture to seal the buildings of Kyiv-Pechersk Lavra. This is reported by the Informational and educational department of the UOC.

The deputy noted that the representatives of the commission, who demanded “to take preventive measures” against people who blocked the buildings of the Lavra, did not have the authority to use the police without a legal basis.

According to him, police officers are guided exclusively by the Constitution and the laws of Ukraine, and not the instructions of a member of the commission, which represents exclusively his Ministry.

“In the case of any unlawful actions, it is necessary to immediately report it to the police officers. If police officers do not perform their duties to protect public order, then every citizen has the opportunity to assert their rights in the highest instances and the courts. However, we must understand that any action must have a peaceful and lawful nature,” Dmytruk said.
