Metropolitan Feodosiy of Cherkasy recorded a video message in which he noted that on June 11, the day of memory of St. Luke of Crimea, the Cherkasy diocese will also celebrate the centenary of his episcopal consecration. This is the website of the diocese.
“St. Luke of Crimea is directly related to our region – for some time he was a zemstvo doctor here in one of the districts. His parents were buried here, his sister and brother lived. Now the Cathedral of the Archangel Michael stands on the site of this cemetery,” – said the bishop .
Metropolitan Feodosiy drew attention to the fact that the times in which Bishop Luke lived are very similar to today.
“It was as if this century had not happened – the churches are again in the hands of schismatics, the authorities restrict the freedom of bishops. Many priests then served their terms in prisons, and St. Luke understood that the same fate awaited him soon – and so it happened. His appeal to the Turkestan flock justifiably ignored by modern renovationists, since it contains extremely uncomfortable moments,” the hierarch said.
He added that today Ukrainian clergy are being judged under Article 161 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine, on inciting inter-religious hatred, but in fact – “for protecting the Church and exposing the schism.”
“Modern Ukrainian persecutors of the faith are proud of the deeds of St. Luke, consider him a great surgeon and the heritage of the country. So it is, but could they accept his words? Wouldn’t they be sent under house arrest, like Metropolitan Pavel and others? church,” but today it would concern the OCU,” the bishop noted.
Thus, St. Luke said that the Renovationists “are not the Church, they are a wild boar, having all the signs of savagery”, called “not to be tempted by their “worship” – it is non-canonical and false, it is not worship”, go only to canonical churches, “boar disobedient,” and if there are none, “accept with humility your separation from the Word of God.”
Metropolitan Feodosiy urged to pray at this difficult time to St. Luke, so that he “helps us not be afraid and not be afraid of the trials that he went through, and which we may have to go through.”
