Former President Petro Poroshenko, in an interview with Channel 5, said that Orthodox believers should unite around the OCU. This is reported by the publication “Leviy Bereg”.

“We must stop at nothing that poses a threat to the state — subversive work that spreads Russian narratives, that undermines the unity of Ukrainians, that splits Ukrainians. I know for sure that there are a huge number of monks and priests who sincerely and truly believe in God. But they must make a choice for themselves – they are with Ukraine or with the devil. And if they choose the devil in the person of Russia, the killer of Putin and his henchman Kirill, then they have no place in the church. It’s simple,” he said.

Poroshenko also added that “now there is nothing more valuable than unity. Therefore, in order to preserve the country, we must preserve unity, we must ensure the united Orthodox Church of Ukraine. Everyone who loves Ukraine should unite in this church and this will be the right way out.”
