Gate-keeper of the Far Caves spoke about the work of the commission of the Ministry of Culture

The work of the commission of the Ministry of Culture and Information Policy of Ukraine is taking place in a calm atmosphere in the presence of representatives of the Kiev-Pechersk Lavra. This was told by the guardian of the Far Caves, Archimandrite Damian (Radzikhovsky), writes Pravlife.

According to the clergyman, on March 22, 2023, members of the commission conducted an inspection in the Far Caves – they examined the relics of the Caves saints and the shrines in which they rest. At about 11 o’clock the work was completed and now the Far and Near caves are open to believers.

“There were representatives of the monastery at each site – the inspection took place in a calm working environment, without manipulation,” said Archimandrite Damian.

He noted that, according to preliminary information, until March 29, the Near and Far Caves will be open daily and work according to the old schedule: from 9.00 to 16.00.

Recall that the commission of the Ministry of Culture to check the availability, storage conditions and state of preservation of cultural property began work in the Kiev-Pechersk Lavra on March 21, 2023. The day before, the monastery received a notice that from that day on, the Near and Far Caves, as well as three churches – Exaltation of the Cross, Annozachatievsky and Warm Church in honor of the Cathedral of All Saints of the Caves, will be closed for visiting and praying. Checking the Ministry of Culture in the monastery should be completed in mid-May.
