People’s Deputy, Chairman of the Parliamentary Committee on Humanitarian and Information Policy Nikita Poturaev said that “a certain public tension is felt around the issue of the liberation of the Lavra from the UOC.” This is reported by the official web portal of the Verkhovna Rada.
The politician is convinced that “Russia will try to resort to provocations and will interfere with the release of the Lavra until March 29th. However, as far as I know, our law enforcement officers are ready for this.”
“We need to prepare for the fact that the patriotic community, in particular war veterans, will come to the Kiev-Pechersk Lavra to support its liberation from representatives of the Moscow Patriarchate,” the parliamentarian stressed.
Poturaev also added that “our civil society is responsible, and law enforcement agencies are competent and professional, so any possible provocations will be avoided.”
