On January 17, 2023, the Chesno movement added Metropolitan Luka of Zaporozhye and Melitopol to its “register of state traitors”. This was reported on the movement’s Facebook page.

The bishop was accused of allegedly “stating in 2022 that Ukrainians deserved Russian bombings, because they tolerate gay parades in Kyiv and therefore Ukrainians are against God and deserve the participation of Sodom and Gomorrah.”

Also, representatives of the movement claim that “in his interviews, Luke constantly emphasized that he was a “citizen of heaven”, and war is a “punishment for sins.”
