Two “hierarchs” of the OCU arrived on the island of Thassos

The head of the OCU “Metropolitan” Epiphany Dumenko, together with the ex-Metropolitan of the UOC Simeon Shostatsky, arrived on the island of Thassos, SFU informs.

Together with Patriarch Bartholomew of Constantinople and the Primate of the Church of Greece, Archbishop Ieronymos, they will take part in the celebrations in honor of the Saints of Thassos.

This visit takes place from 3 to 6 September 2022 on the occasion of the first official celebration of the Saints of Thassos and will include ecclesiastical and cultural events in Thassos, Chrysopolis and Kavala.

The invitation to the head of the Phanar and the head of the OCU on behalf of Metropolitan Stefan was made through the Holy Synod of the Church of Greece in early February 2022. It was also reported that believers in Greece protested against the arrival of Dumenko.
