Sisterhood of the UOC appealed to the EU Commission due to violation of the rights of believers

On July 25, 2022, the All-Ukrainian Sisterhood of St. Mary Magdalene Equal-to-the-Apostles announced that they had submitted an appeal to the European Commission for Democracy through Law under the Council of Europe regarding persistent violations of the rights of believers. This was announced by the assistant to the deputy of the Kamenetz-Podolsky City Council, lawyer and human rights activist Victoria Kokhanovskaya on her Facebook page.

According to Kokhanovskaya, the reason for applying to European structures was the systematic violation of the rights of UOC believers and the articles of the Constitution of Ukraine “On freedom of religion”, as well as the inaction of local authorities, which not only do not protect UOC believers from seizures of churches and discrimination, but often openly support OCU raiders.
