On July 21, the tenth session of the Poltava Regional Council took place, at which the European Solidarity faction initiated an appeal to the President of Ukraine and the Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada with a demand to ban the activities of the UOC in Ukraine, blog.poltava.to reports.
Irina Krivobok, a deputy from Eurosolidarity, Poroshenko’s party. read out the text of the appeal, in which, on behalf of representatives of local self-government, she expressed indignation that “during the full-scale aggression of Russia on the territory of Ukraine, there is a wide representation of the Russian Orthodox Church in Ukraine, which is called the UOC. Before the start of the Russian-Ukrainian war, this structure actively promoted the idea of “brotherhood” with Russia.”
“In order to protect the national security, sovereignty and territorial integrity of Ukraine, prevent collaborationism, suppress incitement of inter-religious hatred and destabilize the religious environment on the territory of Ukraine, it is necessary to ban the activities of the so-called Ukrainian Orthodox Church throughout Ukraine,” said the MP from Poroshenko’s party.
