Commenting on the Pentarchy’s letter with a request to organize a “church tribunal” over Patriarch Kirill of Moscow and All Russia, which was signed by more than 400 priests of the UOC, Metropolitan Filaret of Lviv and Galicia said in an interview with the Glavkom that he did not support this appeal.

“You need to apply to where this appeal is expected. If you wanted to file an appeal, then you need to apply not to the Pentarchy, but to the name of the Patriarch of Constantinople. This is if we say how it should be according to the canons.

The letter was to raise the spirits of the clergy and parishioners. But the letter was signed by only 400 priests. I met with them and told them my position. I said that if they applied to our Bishops’ or Local Council, there would be thousands of signatures under it. A large number of priests did not sign this letter only because they understood that no one would consider this letter. And so he remained a beautiful gesture, an advertisement on Facebook, a declaration of condemnation,” the hierarch said.
