Volinsky village deputies demand from Zelensky and Rada to ban UOC

On June 2, 2022, the deputies of the Podgaytsevskiy village council in the Lutsk district of the Volyn region adopted an appeal to the President of Ukraine and the chairman of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine with a demand to adopt a law to ban the UOC, pidgayci-gromada.gov.ua reported.

The deputies say that they do not have the authority to ban the activities of religious organizations and interfere in their activities even in conditions of war, and this prevents them from transferring the UOC churches located in their area to the OCU, so they ask the President and the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine to expedite the adoption of the draft law “On prohibition of the Moscow Patriarchate on the territory of Ukraine”.

At the same time, the deputies noted that they respect religious beliefs and do not call for interfaith hostility.
