From February 12 to February 16, 2022, the missionary group of the Russian Orthodox Church, headed by Priest Georgy Maximov, worked in Uganda. As Metropolitan Leonid (Gorbachev), Patriarchal Exarch of the Russian Orthodox Church in Africa, reported on his Telegram channel, the missionaries settled six settlements in the northern, central and eastern parts of the country.
“We held four meetings with the local clergy. Three priests and one deacon have been accepted into the Russian Orthodox Church.
Together with the African clergy, they celebrated two Divine Liturgies and one baptism.
We visited three parishes and one priest’s house. Three times they delivered a public sermon to the laity.
Hundreds of icons, wearable crosses were handed over. Antimensions, pectoral crosses and chrism for priests,” said Metropolitan Leonid.
As a result, 10 clerics of the Church of Alexandria moved to the Russian Orthodox Church in this country.
