The head of the Serbian Orthodox Church, Patriarch Porfirije, said that the problem of the “Montenegrin schism” is far-fetched. According to him, there is no problem in Church in Montenegro, but there is a group of people, as he is convinced, who do not consider themselves priests and do not consider their union a church. This was discussed in an interview with the Primate on the official website of the SOC.
“Actually, they are just bad actors. They are led by a provocative “clergyman” who, as everyone in Montenegro knows, was in the service of the communist secret police that persecuted the Church from his youth. Their story today is something between a prank and a comedy, and there is no doubt that in their last act, all the actors admit that they participated in a real tragicomedy.
It’s really hard to understand those who still support this project. I do not see any real problem in Montenegro,” said Patriarch Porfirije.
The Primate also recalled that the SOC survived the collapse of a federal state, and “in this case, the enemies of Orthodoxy — and I would say: the enemies of Christianity — saw the possibility of a split in the Autocephalous or Autonomous Churches. Therefore, we understand well what is happening in Ukraine.”
Earlier, the head of the Phanar said that he was waiting for the arrival of the Serbian Patriarch.
