The center of the South African Diocese of the Russian Orthodox Church will be located in Johannesburg

In Johannesburg, the largest city in South Africa in terms of population, the administrative and spiritual center of the South African Diocese of the Russian Orthodox Church will be created as part of the Patriarchal Exarchate of Africa. This was stated in an interview with the Patriarchal Exarch of Africa, Metropolitan Leonid of Klin.

The temple complex of the parish in honor of St. Sergius, Abbot of Radonezh and All Russia, the wonderworker of the Russian Orthodox Church, which has been operating in this city since 1999, will be the base for the diocesan center.

“The complex includes, in addition to the church, several additional premises for parish needs. This is a full-fledged material base for creating a diocesan center with a cathedral there,” said Metropolitan Leonid.

Earlier, the Patriarchal Exarch of All Africa, Metropolitan Leonid, said that the ROC would not leave Africa even after the repentance of Patriarch Theodore.
