The Ministry of Health of Ukraine has published a list of professions for which vaccination against COVID-19 may become mandatory

The Ministry of Health of Ukraine has prepared a draft order listing the professions for which preventive vaccination may become mandatory. The document was published on the website of the Federation of Trade Unions of Ukraine for discussion, writes nv.ua.

The explanatory note says that, according to Art. 12 of the Law on the Protection of the Population from Infectious Diseases, representatives of certain professions, industries and organizations, whose activities may lead to the infection and spread of infectious diseases, are subject to mandatory preventive vaccination.

It is also said that the European Court of Human Rights in April 2021 confirmed the legality of compulsory vaccination and the fact that it may be necessary in democratic societies, and also does not contradict the Convention for the Protection of Human Rights and Fundamental Freedoms.

According to the draft order, vaccinations against COVID-19 for the period of quarantine established by the Cabinet of Ministers are subject to:

employees of central executive authorities and their territorial subdivisions;
local government officials;
employees of institutions of professional (vocational and technical education), vocational higher education, general secondary education, preschool education, out-of-school educational institutions.

The list can be expanded depending on the epidemic situation.

On September 22, Prime Minister Denis Shmygal said that the Ministry of Health will introduce compulsory coronavirus vaccination for officials and employees of educational institutions.

As of September 26, since the start of the vaccination campaign in Ukraine against coronavirus, 6,781,525 people have received one dose of the vaccine, 5,458,838 – two doses.

Now the fifth stage of vaccination is underway, when anyone over 18 years of age can get vaccinated. In Ukraine, vaccinations are made with CoronaVac, Pfizer, AstraZeneca and Moderna.
