Diaspora of the UOC-KP stood up for Filaret

Citizens of the United States of America, believers of the UOC-KP, headed by Filaret Denisenko, received with great indignation the news that their leader was not invited to the official celebration of the 30th anniversary of Ukraine’s independence. This was reported on the Facebook page of the UOC Kyiv Patriarchate.

“The current Ukrainian government should be more grateful to Patriarch Filaret for his titanic works to assert statehood and defend the spiritual independence of the Ukrainian people … scale – Patriarch Filaret. We demand to give a fair legal assessment of the illegal raiding directed against the Ukrainian Orthodox Church of the Kyivan Patriarchate, ”the statement reads.

Also, representatives of the UOC-KP diaspora note that they will defend the “patriarch”.

The letter on behalf of the vicariate of the UOC-KP in the USA and Canada was signed by 8 people – secretary of the Vicariate of the UOC-KP in the USA and Canada Bogdan Zgoba, Dean of St. Nicholas Patriarchal Stauropegic Cathedral in Philadelphia Alexei Kacharai, Dean of the UOC-KP in Chicago and Illinois Pitirim; head of the Patriarchal Cathedral of Philadelphia Thomas Geni, president of the Theological Institute in Philadelphia Susan Guz, chairman of the All-American movement for the Kyivan Patriarchate Professor Alexander Kachur, president of the UOC-KP sisterhoods in the USA and Canada Barbara Latsios, chairman of the youth organization of the UOC-KP in Boston Bogdan Zgoba.

As previously reported, some of Filaret’s parishes in the diaspora refused to come under the jurisdiction of the Phanar and registered a new vicariate of the UOC-KP.
