At the UN political forum, which was held at the headquarters of the organization in New York from 6 to 15 July 2021, human rights activists declared discrimination against Orthodox churches in Ukraine and other European countries. Bishop Baryshevsky Victor (Kotsaba), Head of the Representation of the UOC to European International Organizationswrote about this in his Telegram channel.
“The sad situation with the observance of the rights and freedoms of Ukrainian citizens is reflected in the annual report published by the European Court of Human Rights. Unfortunately, Ukraine is in the top 3 countries where human rights are violated the most. To a large extent, this situation is associated with discrimination against religious organizations of the UOC.
The statement of the non-governmental organization “Public Rights Protection” notes that in these states “a policy of inequality on national, ethnic or religious grounds is being pursued at the level of the central authorities.”
