Zelenskiy says Putin is delaying conversation about war with language and church issues

President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy in an interview with foreign media (Agence France-Presse, Reuters and Associated Press) said that first you need to end the war, and then talk about everything else, including linguistic and religious issues. This was reported on the website of Presidential Office.

According to him, the head of the Russian Federation deliberately does not want to discuss ways to end the war with him and delays the meeting with various issues, including language and church.

“President Putin said that he is ready for a meeting, and I believe that there will be a meeting. Today, I do not know the reasons, but they are too delaying. And delaying the issue cannot be resolved. They raise the question of the Russian language, the church and the like … I have a very open position here: if you want respect for the Russian language, respect Ukrainian. We want schools to be respected.

Russia and I are already adults. We understand what we have to do for what. Therefore, when they talk about the church or the language, I think: we have a war. Let’s solve the question – what comes first? There are specifics: we will end the war, we want to improve relations. How can? The same generations will be. Whether they want it or not, that’s only later. This is what the conversation is about,” Vladimir Zelensky said.
