Doctors forbid the Pontifex to travel to Kyiv or Moscow. He stated this in an exclusive interview with TVI/CNN Portugal.
At the same time, Francis stressed that he is doing everything possible to end the conflict in Ukraine, being in constant contact with Presidents Volodymyr Zelensky and Vladimir Putin.
“The visit is up in the air. I still don’t know. I’m talking to them. Tomorrow, for example, I have a telephone conversation with President Zelensky. We’ll see,” the Pope said, answering a question about the possibility of his trips to Ukraine and Russia.
Pope Francis said that no trips, except for a visit to Kazakhstan scheduled for September 13-15, are planned in his schedule due to restrictions imposed by doctors.
“Now I can’t go, because after a trip to Canada, the knee is recovering very slowly, so the doctor forbade me. But I am constantly in touch by phone and do what I can. And I ask everyone to do what they can. The situation is really tragic,” he said.
At the same time, the Pope said that several representatives of the Vatican have been in Kyiv since the beginning of the war.
