The Ukrainian Orthodox Church is invariably the largest confession in Ukraine and, as of 01.01.2021, comprises 12406 religious organizations. The corresponding report was published by the State Service of Ukraine for Ethnopolitics and Freedom of Conscience, according to the Information and Educational Department of the UOC.

According to a report on the network of religious organizations in Ukraine, as of January 1, 2021, 37,049 religious communities were registered in Ukraine, of which a third – 12406 – belong to the Ukrainian Orthodox Church.

At the same time, according to the GESC, in the second largest “OCU” religious communities, there are almost half as many – 7188, of which 457 are inactive.

It is worth noting that the report provides information about the religious organizations of the OCU without taking into account the fact that a significant part of parishes are still legally part of the UOC-KP and the UAOC.

The third largest – the Ukrainian Greek Catholic Church – comprises 3670 religious communities.

In addition, according to statistics, there are 215 registered monasteries in Ukraine that belong to the Ukrainian Orthodox Church (40% of the total number in Ukraine), in which 4681 monks and nuns work (70% of the total monasticism). In comparison: in the “OCU” – 79 monasteries, which are assigned 233 monks.

The report also notes that in the UOC: 10510 clergy; 18 theological educational institutions, in which 1479 students study at the stationary, and 2454 students study by correspondence. The Ukrainian Orthodox Church has 4085 Sunday schools and one general education school.

According to the GESC, 135 media outlets were operating in the UOC as of the beginning of 2021, of which 86 were printed, 7 were audiovisual, and 43 were electronic.
