Since 2019, the specialized department of the Volyn regional administration of Volyn region has conducted 176 re-registrations of communities of the UOC in the OCU. This was reported by the chief specialist on issues of religions and nationalities of the Volyn regional administration Vasyl Haiduk, reports “GІT”.

“Since 2019, since the beginning of the adoption of changes (to the law), for 5 years, 172 communities have changed confessional subordination, if you add 4 communities, which in 2024 also have already made the transition, the result is 176 parishes. In general, as of the first of January 2024, 625 religious organizations of the OCU and 517 of the UOC in unity with the Moscow Patriarchate were registered”, – Haiduk stressed.

It is worth noting that the Volyn regional administration is one of the first in the issue of violations of the rights of believers of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church. Recently we reported that supporters of the OCU in the region tried to seize the UOC church in honor of the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary in the town of Kamen-Kashirsky. Despite support from the local authorities and the military, the church was defended. The seizure of the Church of the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary was carried out as a result of the illegal re-registration of the local UOC community to the OCU by the regional authorities.
