Verkhovna Rada deputy demands demolition of the Tithe Church of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church in Kiev

A Verkhovna Rada deputy from the For the Future political party, Ihor Guz, who appears in criminal proceedings under the article “Fraud committed on a large scale or through illegal operations with the use of electronic computer equipment”, demands that the Tithe Church of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church in Kiev be demolished. He published a statement to this effect on his Facebook page.

“The territory near the Ukrainian religious building – the Desyatinna Church – should be free of any churches of the Moscow church. In September 2023, the Northern Economic Court of Appeal issued a final decision to dismantle the temple on the territory of the Museum of Ukrainian History, which is located next to the foundation of the Tithe Church in Kiev. The illegal seizure of this historical territory by the UOC-MP, which had the support of Yanukovych’s team, began back in 2008. There were no permits for construction and use of the land plot. Almost half a year has passed since the court decision! And the temple still stands in place. Together with my fellow deputies (including me 22 deputies) appealed to the Minister of Justice with a question: when will the court decision be executed? When the center of the aggressor country in the heart of the capital of Ukraine will be dismantled?!”, – wrote MP Guz.

We will remind, the story around the Desyatyn temple of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church has been going on for not the first year. On February 15, 2023 the Economic court of Kiev obliged “to release the site of the National Museum of history of Ukraine from the illegally built “mafa temple”.
