Bulgarian Patriarch appoints Bulgarian priests to serve at the Moscow Patriarch’s Suburb in Sofia

On September 25, 2023, His Holiness Patriarch Neophytos of Bulgaria, in fulfillment of his authority as Metropolitan of Sofia, issued an order appointing priests from Sofia who will take over the care of the Church-Foundation of the Patriarch of Moscow and All Russia in Sofia and will perform regular services there.

It is known that these priests are clerics of the Bulgarian Orthodox Church, but have been serving at the Podvorye for many years. Prior to ordination, one of them was the altar boy of the church, the other was a chanter.

“All other issues,” says the official website of the BOC, “of a secular-legal and administrative nature will be considered at a meeting of the Holy Synod of the BOC. At the same time, “the St. Sophia Holy Metropolis guarantees that no part of the Church’s property will be lost or damaged.”
