The OCU proposes to postpone holiday services to weekends

On his Facebook page, theologian and secretary of the synodal theological and liturgical commission of the OCU Andriy Dudchenko voiced the idea of moving holiday services that fall on weekdays to weekends.

He believes that only freelancers, housewives and pensioners can attend temples on holidays in the middle of the week.

“We will come to the point of moving church holidays from weekdays to weekends,” he said.

Dudchenko proposes to move gardening holidays to Saturday, and the Lord’s feasts to Sunday. As an option – according to the “priest”, it is possible to serve the liturgy in the evening, after work. In such a case, the Eucharistic fast would begin “after dinner”.

“The main thing is that we celebrate an event, not a date. And the modern Christian community (the Church) can adjust the date and the way of celebration so that it is good for the members of this community,” Dudchenko said.
