Cherkasy diocese denied the transfer of Kamenka’s St. Nicholas Church to the OCU

The Cherkasy diocese said that media reports about the “transition” to the Ukrainian Orthodox Church’s St. Nicholas Church in Kamenka are lies and provocation. About it reports the website of the diocese.

“People who gathered on August 24 in the park of the city under the guise of the Nicholas community, have nothing to do with us,” – said the rector of the temple Archpriest George Pogranichny.

He added that “of the reported 120 people, only about 20 live in the city. Of these 20 – a few supporters of the OCU, the rest are Protestants. The rest were brought by buses from other settlements, they are not even residents of Kamenka”.

While the fake meeting was being held in the park, the religious community held its legitimate meeting in the temple itself, where it unanimously decided to remain in the Ukrainian Orthodox Church with His Beatitude Onufry. There are 173 signatures in the minutes of the meeting.

The priest said that he took the minutes to the regional state administration, the head of the Department of Culture and the state registrar. The community also wrote a statement to the police about holding an illegal meeting and forging documents.
