Constantinople Patriarchate denied rumors about the transfer of Kiev-Pechersk Lavra

The Patriarchate of Constantinople has denied rumors that Ukraine will hand over the Kiev-Pechersk Lavra to Ukraine. This was stated by the head of the press service of the patriarch Nikolaos Papachristou, the media reported.

“The Patriarchate of Constantinople has not confirmed information about negotiations with representatives of Ukraine on the cession of the Kiev-Pechersk Lavra. Rumors about the transfer of the Lavra to Constantinople do not correspond to reality, the press service said,” the publication says.

At the Phanar did not comment on the situation with the seizure of the Lavra, noting that they do not comment on individual events in Ukraine. “Sometimes the patriarch speaks about the Ukrainian problem as a whole,” Nikolaos Papachristou added.
