In Volyn, an RCC priest duct-taped a girl because she was tearing up cherries on the church grounds

In Kovel on June 8, 2023 at about 7 pm, the rector of the parish of St. Anne of the Roman Catholic Church committed criminal acts against a 6th grade student of one of the city lyceums, who was tearing cherries in the church, reports volyninfa, referring to the ruling of the Kovel City District Court.

The rector of the parish illegally deprived the girl of her liberty by “tying her body with duct tape, which was accompanied with a threat to use an object that looked like a gun,” reads the court ruling.

After the incident, the police opened a criminal investigation №1202303050000725, and on June 16 the man was reported on suspicion of committing a crime under Part 2 Article 146 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine.

At the hearing, the investigator and prosecutor supported the petition to apply a preventive measure against the abbot in the form of house arrest around the clock. But in connection with the need to carry out charitable activities and conduct worship, the defender and the suspect asked to apply night house arrest. Also, the rector of the parish indicated that he does not work and has no money for bail, his existence is ensured by donations for the church.

It is known that the rector is a native of the village Plebanovka, Vinnitsa region. He is unmarried, does not have children, has no criminal or administrative liability, as well as information about a negative characteristic.

The investigating judge, Alexei Shishilin, decided to apply house arrest against the suspect, with restrictions on the night, prohibiting him from leaving his apartment from 18:00 to 08:00.
