The Ministry of Culture and Information Policy has already begun to develop a “strategy” for the Kiev-Pechersk Lavra, which provides for the “emergence of centers of cultural, secular and spiritual life” and the development of tourism. This was stated by the head of the Ministry of Culture Oleksandr Tkachenko on the air of the United News telethon, the Information and Education Department of the UOC reports.
“Work has begun on the strategy of the Kiev-Pechersk Lavra, because we would like to see the Ukrainian Lavra,” the minister said.
According to him, due to the fact that “the Lower and Upper Lavra existed in a parallel reality, many of the opportunities provided by the Lavra were not used.”
“We are talking about saturating the life of the Lavra, where centers of cultural, secular, spiritual life should appear, including spiritual universities, and tourist routes that people can walk on,” Tkachenko said.
He boasted that even now cultural events have been restored on the territory of the monastery: concerts are being held, and there will be more concerts. The Ministry of Culture is also establishing cooperation with tourist organizations, which, according to its plan, should operate in the Lavra.
