On June 27, 2023, in the Kyiv region, border guards detained a clergyman of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church. This is reported by the Telegram channel of the State Border Service of Ukraine.

Later it became known that the detainee was Metropolitan Ephraim of Krivoy Rog.

“The bishop’s phone was full of Russian numbers, and also contained data on anti-Ukrainian activities.
During the verification of information in open sources regarding the cleric, it also turned out that he is an opponent of the creation of an independent local church in Ukraine,” the State Border Guard Service said in a statement.

It is also noted that the border guards handed over the hierarch to the SSU officers for further “heartfelt conversation”.
