The clergy of the Holy Trinity Cathedral of the UOC in the village of Irkliev, Cherkasy region, denied the information circulated in some media about the alleged transition of the religious community to the OCU. It is reported by Suspіlne.

The rector of the religious community, Archbishop Ioan of Zolotonosha, responded to Suspilny’s request that no actions had been taken to change the canonical jurisdiction of the parish of the Holy Trinity Cathedral of the UOC in the village of Irkliev, Cherkasy region.

“Our religious community, in accordance with the legislation of Ukraine and its charter in paragraph 2.5. consists of clergymen, clergymen, as well as lay members of the parish assembly who have reached the age of 18, who recognize the obligation of the Charter on the management of the UOC, regularly participate in worship, confess and receive communion, are in canonical obedience to the rector and are not under a ban or ecclesiastical court that prohibits full participation in liturgical life,” the hierarch said.

The bishop said that the Parish Assembly of the Holy Trinity Cathedral of the UOC Irkliev has a fixed membership. It is approved by the head of the Cherkasy diocese of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church. In the last protocol of the Parish meeting of the religious community dated May 31, 2023, without exception, all members of the religious community unanimously confirmed the subordination of the parish to the Ukrainian Orthodox Church and Metropolitan Onufry of Kiev and All Ukraine and the Holy Synod of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church.

A notification was sent to the address of the Cherkasy Regional Military Administration about the holding of some meetings of the villagers or other meetings that cannot have any legal or actual consequences.
