On April 11, a meeting of the session of the Volyn Regional Council was held. The elected representatives of the community considered the draft decision on appealing to the believers of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church. It is reported by the publication Volynskiye Novosti.
The deputies of the regional council called on the believers of the UOC in Volhynia “to cut off any ties with the Russian Orthodox Church and finally achieve the final religious independence of Ukraine from Moscow.”
“This can only be done together, in the spiritual unity of the entire Ukrainian people,” the council’s draft decision says.
The deputies recommended that the Volyn Regional Military Administration terminate the lease agreements for the UOC churches, which are architectural monuments, as well as the lease agreement with the Svyatogorsk Assumption Zimnensky Convent.
“For” voted 54 deputies. The decision was taken unanimously.
It is interesting that in the presidium, next to the chairman of the regional council, Grigory Nedopad, was the OCU “metropolitan” Mikhail Zinkevich.
