UOC must leave all premises of the Kiev-Pechersk Lavra – Ministry of Culture

Monks and ministers of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church must leave all the premises of the Kiev-Pechersk Lavra at the end of March. The Minister of Culture and Information Policy of Ukraine Oleksandr Tkachenko wrote about this in his Telegram channel.

“The contract for the gratuitous use of the UOC of the Kiev-Pechersk Lavra is terminated from March 29, 2023. This applies to all premises rented by the UOC in the Lavra.

Today, 03/10/2023, the National Reserve “Kyiv-Pechersk Lavra” sent a warning to the Holy Dormition Kiev-Pechersk Lavra (Male Monastery) of the UOC about the termination of the Agreement on the gratuitous use by a religious organization of religious buildings and other property that is state property.

Such a warning is justified by the conclusions of the Interdepartmental Working Group, which during the work established a violation by the Monastery of the terms of the Treaty regarding the use of state property. The reason is the recorded violations of the conditions for the use of state property. The Ministry of Culture and Information Policy of Ukraine confirmed this position with a corresponding letter,” Tkachenko wrote.
