Poles demand demolition of monuments to former Pope John Paul II

The Polish TV channel published a large-scale investigation into cases of pedophilia, in which the priests of the Catholic Church are involved. Investigators claim that the famous Archbishop of Krakow Karol Wojtyla, whom the whole world later recognized under the name of Pope John Paul II, was aware of the harassment of his subordinates towards children, writes CLIRIC NEWS.

The figure of Pope John Paul II, even before his official canonization in 2014, was considered a saint in Poland, pedophilia scandals have always bypassed. The pope himself, among other things, was a kind of unifying symbol for the believing Poles, and dozens of monuments were erected to him throughout the country.

It seems that, in connection with the current investigation (its authors claim to have spent more than two and a half years on it), the attitude towards the Polish saint may change dramatically.

In particular, the program claims that the Archbishop of Krakow not only knew perfectly well about the actions of his subordinates, but also covered them with all his might. The main way to protect the clergy caught or suspected of pedophilia was their transfer from one place of service to another.
