Bishop Irenaeus of Bach: Most Local Churches still recognize Metropolitan Onufriy as canonical

Bishop Irenaeus of Bach (Serbian Orthodox Church) stated that most of the Local Orthodox Churches “still recognize Metropolitan Onufriy of Kyiv and All Ukraine as canonical, ignoring citizen Sergiy Dumenko (“Metropolitan Epifaniy”).” Hierarchus quotes Romfea.

“State terrorism is at its peak, especially in recent days. An illustration of this is not only the blasphemous invasion of the police and “special services” into the shrine of Ukraine and the entire Orthodox world – the Kiev-Pechersk Lavra, but also the outlawing of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church and the threat that the “pro-European” and “democratically” oriented Ukrainian state is simply will forbid it if it does not dissolve it,” Bishop Irenaeus said.

The hierarch emphasized that the intensification of the persecution of the canonical Church was caused by the aggravation of the schism in Ukraine as a result of the non-canonical actions of the Patriarchate of Constantinople, which created in this country “a church structure close to it.”
