On November 4, 2022, in the village of Demyantsy, Kyiv region, supporters of the OCU tried to seize the temple of the UOC. Aleksey Kravchenko, the chorister of the temple, told reporters about this.
At 13.20, several cars drove up to the Church of the Exaltation of the Holy Cross, from which strong young people in sportswear got out.
Some of the faces were covered with balaclavas. They climbed over the fence of the temple and sawed off the locks of the doors of the church and on the gates of the fence with a grinder.
“The deacon of our church, father Vladimir, tried to stop them, they beat him, they also hit my mother,” Alexei said. The believers who came to the defense of the temple were showered with threats. The raiders retreated only after the arrival of the police. They left, and in the end they said to the priest: “We give you two weeks, so that in two weeks you will not be here.”
The night before, on November 3, supporters of the OCU gathered in front of the fence of the temple, insulted and humiliated the believers of the UOC, who at that time were praying in the church. Then they tried to open the locked gate of the fence with a crowbar. The believers of the UOC called the police, and only then did the OCU activists leave. The parishioners did not disperse until late in the evening, they were afraid that the capture attempt would be repeated.
