The first monastic community transferred to the African Exarchate of the ROC from the Patriarchate of Alexandria

In Madagascar, in the city of Ambatondrazaka, the first monastic community of the Exarchate – Sister Nektariya with novices moved to the African Exarchate of the Russian Orthodox Church from the Patriarchate of Alexandria. Metropolitan Leonid, Patriarchal Exarch of Africa, wrote about this in Telegram.

“The departure from the Greeks was not without scandal. When the sisters announced their decision to transfer to the Russian Orthodox Church and, having collected their belongings, began to leave the community, AOC priest John Justin Rakotosolofo (“thanks” to whose lies our clerics were arrested) called the police and journalists, tried to accuse the nun of theft.

The police refused to arrest the “criminals”.

Today, the sisters are already settling in the premises rented by us for the community.

By the way, the last straw of patience was the fact that the Greek Metropolitan Ignatius (Sennis), the head of the Madagascar diocese, forced the nuns to bear false witness against the clergy, who had previously transferred to the African Exarchate of the Russian Orthodox Church,” writes Metropolitan Leonid.
