The Orthodox Church in America donated $0.72 million to help Ukrainians in Poland

The fifth plenary session of the 20th Assembly of the Clergy and Laity of the Orthodox Church in America was held in Baltimore. Among the issues discussed at the meeting was the activities of the charitable organization of the Polish Autocephalous Orthodox Church ELEOS Poland and its assistance to refugees from Ukraine, the OCA website reports on July 22, 2022.

Earlier this year, the organization received over $720,000 from the OCA to further their care for those affected by the war in Ukraine. This donation is the result of the largest single charitable collection ever taken up by the Orthodox Church in America.

Earlier it was reported that the Primate of the Orthodox Church in America, Metropolitan Tikhon, expressed his support for Metropolitan Onuphry of Kyiv.
