Metropolitan Vladimir of Pochaev, the abbot of the Holy Dormition Pochaev Lavra and the brethren of the monastery sent an appeal to Patriarch Kirill of Moscow and All Rus with a request to call on the authorities of the Russian Federation to stop hostilities in Ukraine.

“In these days, when a great misfortune befell our God-loving Ukrainian people, we are the brethren of the Holy Dormition Pochaev Lavra, we earnestly ask you to turn to the President of the Russian Federation V.V. Putin. as well as to the leadership of the Russian Federation on the immediate cessation of hostilities in Ukraine and to do everything in your power to stop the armed confrontation and not shed human blood!

War is a great sin, a great evil, contrary to all the gospel and Christian commandments.

We pray to the Lord that peace cease and reign in our land!

Through the prayerful intercession of the Most Holy Theotokos and the patronage of the Monks Job and Amphilochius of Pochaev, may the Lord give us the longed-for peace!
