Clerics of the Lviv diocese ask to convene a Council of the UOC and declare autocephaly

The Office of the Lviv Diocese of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church informs that on February 28 and March 1, 2022, the Office received appeals from the clergy of the diocese to the Diocesan Bishop with a request to send appeals to the Primate of the UOC and the Holy Synod, at which a decision was made to withdraw from the ROC and proclaim autocephaly.

This was reported on the page of the diocese in Facebook.

“We have Cain – in the person of the President of Russia V. Putin. But we were much more alarmed by the position of the leadership of the Russian Orthodox Church, in particular, by its Primate Patriarch Kirill, his official addresses and sermons. We were waiting for protection and support, but received a tacit agreement on the war…

Today, the impossibility of the continued existence of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church in the status in which it has existed until today, an independent, but canonically integral part of the Russian Orthodox Church, is being openly discussed… We are ready to be confessors for Christ and faith, but not for the Moscow Patriarch and the Moscow Patriarchate, which are not support their brothers during the fratricidal war,” the clergy said in their appeal.
