On December 25, 2021, on the feast day of St. Spyridon of Trimifuntsky, Bishop of Rovno and Ostrog Pimen (Voyat) consecrated a new church in honor of St. Spyridon in the village of Malye Dorogostai, Rivne region and led the Divine Liturgy, UOJ reports.

Bishop Pimen was co-served by the secretary of the Rivne diocese, archpriest Alexander Yegorov, the dean of the Mlinovsky district, archpriest Vasily Ivaneiko, the rector of the church, priest Alexander Yashchuk, and numerous clergy.

“For a long time, the community celebrated services in the open air, later in a tent. There was a period when services were held in the room of the parishioners of the UOC, ”said Archpriest Vasily Ivaneiko, Dean of the Mlinovsky District.

In mid-2019, construction began on a new temple. In just a few months, the walls were erected, and on Christmas the first divine service was held in the new church.

“At that time the church was not yet equipped, but not the lack of plaster, heating, facade works and paving stones prevented us from truly rejoicing and thanking the Lord for His mercy and help,” added Father Vasily.

Later, philanthropist Andrei Biba joined the construction of the new church, as a result the pace of construction and finishing work accelerated. The parishioners of the temple also collected money for the construction of the temple and worked tirelessly.

Bishop Pimen thanked everyone who worked to build the house of God and stressed

that the life of Saint Spyridon of Trimifuntsky, after whom the church in the Small Roads was named, should serve as an example, because the path of the saint was difficult from the point of view of human logic, but this did not prevent him from doing good deeds, having love for others and acquiring humility.

As previously reported, the community applied for construction assistance back in 2019.
