The head of the Church of Constantinople, Patriarch Bartholomew, met with the mayors of Athens, Thessaloniki, Patras and Mytilene on November 30, 2021, according to Orthodoxianewsagency.
Together with the heads of Greek cities, delegations of municipalities arrived in Turkey, which participated in the congress in Istanbul.
During the meeting with the head of Phanar, they, among other things, “noted the position of His Holiness and the Patriarchate on the pandemic, indicating that they also encourage their citizens to be vaccinated.”
“Tell them that I was vaccinated four times,” the patriarch said and recalled that “from the very beginning, the Patriarchate stood up for science, respected the recommendations and instructions of doctors, defended the sanitary measures that the state had introduced.”
It is also reported that the meeting was attended by Metropolitan Emmanuel of Chalcedon.
