Patriarch Theophilos III of Jerusalem thanked Patriarch Kirill of Moscow for his “firmness and consistency” in supporting the Christian presence in the Holy Land in the face of the intensification of extremist groups and announced his readiness to meet with him. This is stated in an appeal addressed to Patriarch Kirill, published on November 24 on the website of the Department for External Church Relations of the Moscow Patriarchate, credo.press writes.
“We want to thank you for the firmness and consistency with which you support our patriarchy and Christian presence in the Holy Land, especially at this time, when we are confronting the increasing pressure and difficulties caused by the pandemic, as well as the rise of extremist groups that are trying to change the fundamental identity and appearance of this multicultural, multi-ethnic and multi-religious region,” the message says.
Theophilus III noted that the Patriarchy will gladly welcome Patriarch Kirill when he woul be able to take a next pilgrimage trip.
