In Australia, the phanariots still cannot transfer the UOC-KP to the Church of Constantinople

Within the boundaries of the Australian Archdiocese of the Patriarchate of Constantinople, there are Ukrainian communities founded by the “patriarch” Filaret, however, after the formation of the OCU, they were to pass into the jurisdiction of the Phanar. But until now, the Archdiocese of Australia ” is looking into the existing situation and the conditions for integration of these communities into canonicity,” according to orthodoxtimes.

This was discussed at the Assembly of Bishops of the Australian Diocese, which was held in Sydney under the chairmanship of Archbishop Macarius of Australia.

As noted, “the archbishop and his deputies are making efforts to resolve this issue, but so far the matter has not been crowned with success, a Committee has been appointed to resolve this church issue.”

At the same time, the decision of the bishops notes that the clergyman Father Savva Bizanias, who communicates with some Ukrainian communities in Australia, undertook to take care of this issue on his own initiative, but he “is acting anti-canonically as he does not have the authority to do so, neither from the Ecumenical Patriarchate, nor from the Autocephalous Church of the Ukraine and Metropolitan Epifanios nor, of course, from the Holy Archdiocese of Australia.” It was also noted that those interested in joining the Archdiocese of Australia should communicate directly with the Archdiocese.

As previously reported, a significant part of the former parishes of the UOC-KP in the diaspora decided to remain under the jurisdiction of the “patriarch” Filaret.
