On September 23, 2021, a meeting of the Holy Synod of the Russian Orthodox Church began in the Throne Hall of the Patriarchal and Synodal Residence in the Danilov Monastery in Moscow under the chairmanship of His Holiness Patriarch Kirill of Moscow and All Russia, the website of the Russian Orthodox Church writes.

Welcoming the audience, the Primate of the Russian Orthodox Church noted that the meeting will discuss, in particular, issues of preparation for the Council of Bishops in 2021.

“Today we have a whole series of questions, which, as usual, concern the internal and external activities of the Church; relevant reports of some members of the Holy Synod will be presented, ”His Holiness added.

Also, according to His Holiness, the Synod “will consider the candidacy of one of the persons nominated for the episcopal consecration.”
