Former cleric of the UOC, now “archpriest” of the OCU, Andrei Dudchenko, took part in the liturgy in the Athos monastery of New Esfigmen, and published a photo of a fresco that allegedly depicts the Monk Anthony of Pechersky (who lived at the turn of the 10th and 11th centuries), “with the tomos of the OCU in hands ”, which was founded 2 years ago, writes Pravblog.
“First, it’s a wild combination. What does the Monk Anthony of the Caves, who lived in the 11th century, have to do with the anticanonical actions of Patriarch Bartholomew of the 20th century?
Secondly, if the Monk Anthony were to be in Kiev today, then, we are sure, he would have simply torn this tomos, indignant at the violation of the canons by the Phanar, ”writes the Telegram channel.
We will remind that the monastery of New Esfigmen is one of the four Athonite monasteries, which entered into communion with the OCU.
Earlier, Andriy Dudchenko said that the OCU should “work for reconciliation” so that the supporters of canonical autocephaly in the UOC “would like to join” it.
