In a recent telephone conversation with the Pope, President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy, based on the Presidential office’s message, said that “the Ukrainian people are awaiting the beatification of Metropolitan Sheptytsky,” writes Pravblog.

“The question immediately arises, how does the issue of canonization (that is, canonization) of the Uniate Metropolitan affect the entire Ukrainian people?

On what grounds does the president attribute such a desire to, say, Orthodox believers, not to mention representatives of other confessions or those who consider the figure of Metropolitan Andrey Sheptytsky to be dubious from a moral point of view?

And why is the state power engaged in this issue? Since when has a secular state been performing the function of petitioning a religious figure to be canonized ”, writes the Telegram-channel.
