On February 29, 2024, during a session of the city council of Volodymyr-Volynskyi, local deputies signed a petition on the inadmissibility of continuing the lease of the ancient Holy Assumption Cathedral of the city, which is the cathedral church of the Volodymyr-Volyn diocese of the UOC. The document was sent for consideration to the Prime Minister of Ukraine and the acting head of the Ministry of Culture. About it reports VSN.

It is reported that July 1, 2024 expires the contract between the Volyn regional administration and the religious community of the Holy Dormition Cathedral of the UOC on the gratuitous use of the structures of the Holy Dormition Cathedral itself in 1156, the house with a bell tower and walls with gates, located in Vladimir on the street Sobornaya 25, 27. It is worth noting that the complex also includes the premises of the diocesan administration and Vladimir-Volynsk spiritual school.

“Due to the fact that the governing center of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church of the Moscow Patriarchate is located outside Ukraine, in the state that is carrying out armed aggression against Ukraine, Vladimir deputies demand not to extend the agreement on the gratuitous use of the UOC-MP complex of the Dormition Cathedral of the XII-XVII centuries in Vladimir and not to conclude other agreements with religious communities of the UOC-MP, which would provide an opportunity to be clerics of the UOC-MP on the territory of this shrine”, – stated in the message.

Recall, earlier we reported that on March 7, 2024 representatives of the National Historical and Cultural Reserve “Chernihiv Ancient” completely restricted access to the Holy Trinity temple complex of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church, which is an architectural monument. Employees of the “reserve” sealed the entrance gates to the territory of the complex, motivating this by “checking the condition of the complex”.
