“Did not condemn Russia and memorialized the Patriarch”: the “witness” in the case of Metropolitan Theodosius made a comment in court

On February 20, 2024, during the judicial investigation into the case of Metropolitan Theodosiy (Snigiryov) of Cherkasy and Kanev, the Cherkasy City Court held an interrogation of a prosecution witness, whose name was not disclosed. During the interrogation it was found that the UOC bishop is accused of unwillingness to condemn Russia for conducting military actions against Ukraine. About it reports “Suspilne”.

“During the interrogation it was said that since the defendant did not condemn the actions of Russia, a number of priests appealed to Theodosius with a letter in which they asked him to express his opinion on the war and to break relations with the Russian Church, since it supported the full-scale invasion. According to a witness, whose name we do not disclose, the defendant-Metropolitan Theodosius knew the letter. He informed that there would be no personal statement of opinion, he would not condemn Russia’s aggression against Ukraine. Also the witness said that the defendant still in his services memorializes Patriarch Kirill and encourages other priests to do so”, – stated in the message.

We will remind, earlier we reported that today, February 22, 2024 in Cherkassy representatives of the Security Service of Ukraine conducted another search at Metropolitan of Cherkassy and Kanev Theodosius (Snigiryov). At that time, the bishop had a heart attack.
