Robert Amsterdam called on the U.S. government to impose sanctions against Viktor Elensky

The head of the international law firm Amsterdam & Partners LLP, Robert Amsterdam, has called on the US government to impose personal sanctions against the head of the Ukrainian State Service for Ethnic Policy and Freedom of Conscience, Viktor Yelenskyy. The human rights activist is convinced that Yelensky is involved in the violation of religious freedoms of Ukrainian citizens. He wrote about this in his account in the social network X.

“In President Biden’s press release on National Religious Freedom Day, he notes that the U.S. “has imposed sanctions, visa restrictions, and export controls on entities and organizations that are responsible for serious human rights violations, such as religious persecution.” Next on this sanctions list should be Viktor Yelensky, head of the State Service for Religious Affairs and Ethnopolitics (SSRA), who is pushing a bill to eradicate the Ukrainian Orthodox Church”, – the UOC lawyer wrote.

We shall remind you that earlier Robert Amsterdam, who represents the legal interests of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church, said that the ban of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church contradicts international law and the interests of Ukraine.
